"corona now delivers your games and apps to NOOK color"

@Carlos
Today we got email from B&N, where they inform about enabling international developers for Nook.
Please, prioritize Corona SDK for Nook (as well as Kindle Fire), as you have a lot of international developers in Studio Directory, and, I think, they will be thankful :slight_smile: [import]uid: 9058 topic_id: 11363 reply_id: 63519[/import]

@Andriy,

I believe mail is sent to previously registered international developers, right?

Could you please post the information here? If it’s not private or does not have disclosure limitations of course… :slight_smile: [import]uid: 10478 topic_id: 11363 reply_id: 63527[/import]

We are pleased to announce that we are nearing another significant milestone in the expansion of NOOK Developer.

In the coming days, developers whose companies are based in Canada, Australia, the UK, Ireland, Germany and Spain, will have the opportunity to sell and promote their content and applications to millions of Barnes & Noble customers in the United States.

We invite developers based in these countries to simply apply to become a Qualified NOOK App Developer. Then, once qualified, developers should complete their banking and account information along with their applications Meta-Data submission and submit this for review to us.

We are also able to communicate today that NOOK Developer is offering the following guarenteed promotional placement for NOOK Apps submitted and accepted before 11/25/2011.
Your application icon will be featured on digital store signage across ~700 Barnes & Noble stores visable to +5 million monthly customers beginning 1/1/2012 for a duration of at least 1 month.
Placement on the ā€œWhat’s New on NOOKā€ curated list, visable directly on devices to users shopping for apps.
The success of NOOK Colorā„¢ and NOOK Appsā„¢ continues to grow. Developers in the US are already experiencing amazing monetization opportunities for their apps on NOOK Color. [import]uid: 49447 topic_id: 11363 reply_id: 63536[/import]

I too received the same email from B&N, having registered as developers some time ago, but being in the UK we have been unable to move forward.

However, yesterday Carlos said that the Nook version of the SDK is still unavailable. Given that there are Corona apps in the Nook store I think this is not so much a technical issue but something between B&N and Ansca. A small window of opportunity to get some support from B&N at last but now we’re stymied by Ansca! What gives??

Carlos, I love your eloquence! :slight_smile: [import]uid: 2646 topic_id: 11363 reply_id: 63588[/import]

I wonder how relevant the Nook will be after Kindle Fire hits.

I was interested in Nook, but it’s kind of on the back burner. I want to see how the Kindle Fire does and go from there :slight_smile:

Hopefully the Nook does do something nice, but only time will tell!

I just got approved by B&N and can upload an APK…but not until Corona supports the NOOK Color =( So I’m stuck, and it’s killing me since our game is a word game perfect for users of that device.

I’m _still_ waiting for my bank to verify my US bank account :confused: (i’m in the UK)

I saw that post on their blog about international developers too, but I don’t see anywhere to put in a non US bank account number.

Am i missing something, or is it not enabled yet?

brianhook - are you in the US? [import]uid: 8872 topic_id: 11363 reply_id: 65443[/import]

Yes, I’m in the USA. [import]uid: 44812 topic_id: 11363 reply_id: 65454[/import]

Now that B&N have announced the Nook Tablet are we going to finally see the long promised Corona SDK for Nook? Carlos??? [import]uid: 2646 topic_id: 11363 reply_id: 66094[/import]

@spjnowak, @Carlos
Same words from me. B&N is going to ship their next tablet (after Color) and we (Corona Developers) hear only promises. It’s sad. [import]uid: 9058 topic_id: 11363 reply_id: 66208[/import]

Corona?
https://nookdeveloper.barnesandnoble.com/tools-services/frameworks.html

Even Moai (Lua) is on the list. [import]uid: 53445 topic_id: 11363 reply_id: 66238[/import]

from what I understand, Corona already supports Nook builds… but that feature has only been offered as a beta to a small handful of users.

I’m guessing that once all of the bugs are worked out, it will be released to all of us. [import]uid: 49447 topic_id: 11363 reply_id: 66279[/import]

From what I was told the nook capable build is a separate branch of Corona and the daily builds are not supported.

I think the 2.0 Corona release is the last time the build was updated but I could be wrong.

Email support@anscamobile.com and I’m sure they will be able to help. [import]uid: 5354 topic_id: 11363 reply_id: 66281[/import]

Just a reminder, both Fire and Nook are not stock Android. They are both branches of Android 2.2 and now the new Nook is Android 2.3

So guess what? the lowest common denominator for Nook will be 2.2. and won’t take much advantage of the 2.3 (if any) features.

Fire is also branch of Android 2.2 - more like Android 2.5

So yes, that headaches falls into us to figure out a solution.

Is Android fragmented? Yes. Is it a head-ache? Like you have no idea.

Stay tuned.

Hey,

I took build 703 and built my new version 2.0 of the Colorado Ski and Snow Resort information app (just released on itunes)…

After installing it via wireless adb on a Nook Color (yes I am a nook developer - but not ā€˜approved’ for upload yet) the app runs fine but looks a little fuzzy and the soft keys at the bottom (ie menu, back and status) are hidden by the app.

Any magic to build settings or config.lua that I should be using?

Thanks! [import]uid: 9070 topic_id: 11363 reply_id: 72709[/import]

I copied the .apk to the Nook (via usb cable). How can I install the application there? I tapped the .apk file but I just got a ā€œUnsupported file formatā€ message… [import]uid: 4883 topic_id: 11363 reply_id: 74551[/import]

What android did you build for? The nook I had, I rooted it, then added the apk files. But I had to use an older version of Corona to build for 2.1 or whatever to get it to work on the nook.

Hopefully that helps.
