"corona now delivers your games and apps to NOOK color"

does this just mean you have to root your nook, then add your app? Or is there going to be an entire new version of corona that coming out that we can build directly to it?

I have a nook, just wondering what my options are at the moment…

thanks,

You need to get a Barnes and Noble developer account and wait for us to ship the Corona SDK for Nook in a month or two from now.

You can’t build for Nook right now and the apps will be rejected form B&N.

If you want to know how we got some apps from our developers in the Nook, it is very selective and the Corona apps you see on NOOK have been on other stores and crossed the 100,000 download mark on the other app stores.

ok, that clears up a lot.

but in terms of just development and testing, i can use the current version of corona, build for an android device, and put it on my own nook? I just can’t publish to nook’s app store yet? [import]uid: 29997 topic_id: 11363 reply_id: 41215[/import]

that won’t work either until we clear some issues with corona

you can however build for galaxy 2.2 and use a galaxy to test :frowning:

So is the holdup with Nook, a tech issue with the current corona SDK for Nook? Or is it a political thing at B&N that they are, even beyond their develop requirements, not allowing apps onto the Nook? Even book apps?

I"m very keen to develop for this platform, so any info you can share would be most appreciated.
best,

ironing out intents/and other specific nook features as well as international support for apps. you have to be a us based company in order to publish to nook so we are working on a solution for our international developers …

Got the ‘you need to be US based’ which I am… luckily. The rest, ‘intents/and other specific nook features’’… seemed to suggest that it is a ongoing programming issue that Anscamobile is working on. Is that correct?

I was trying to establish that it wasn’t that B&N was frowning on Corona (once you released it), for a US based company that met their listed requirements for becoming a developer. and that once you have the SDK ready, it would a viable dev platform for Nook Color.

Hopefully that circular sentence made sense… Basically, I"m a US company, when you’re ready to release, will B&N balk at my submission?

also, since we are an official 3rd party nook development tool we are also working with them to make the submission progress seamlessly and painless from our users.

at the risk of being slightly off-topic, and perhaps just to state the obvious…

You can root the Nook Color and use CM7 to turn it into a regular android device. Since it’s ARM7 it’s actually a great test device. Of course, this doesn’t really address building directly for the Nook - but for anyone that already has a Nook it should give you a pretty good indication of performance. We’re sure rooting for you folks to support the Nook with a build (or SDK extension – or whatever it takes). This is a very important platform for our Game Development – and an important reason why we chose Corona (when the SDK seemed imminent).
