Corona quit unexpectedly on Mac

The Corona simulator quit unexpectedly when using native.showWebPopup. The same app runs fine on Kindle (android). Running OS X 10.7.5, Java SE 6.
When I bring up the web page in question on a Chrome browser (on win7) I see a message “Java needs your permission to run.”

Got hints?

Sounds like security settings ?
