Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t corona bundled with a few fonts? And are they royalty free? I thought about going with a approach of making my own in gimp or inkscape but not sure if it’s really time consuming.

I had to check on this one, the answer; “the user may redistribute those under the terms of the license that comes with it (Apache).”

Have you looked at http://www.dafont.com/mega-sans.font? If the font is listed as Free, I’m pretty sure you can use it royalty free. However, ones marked as Personal use only are not.
