Corona SDK for desktop?

Just a quick question from a prospective Corona SDK convert: Will we ever see a desktop version? It would be nice, considering the upcoming release of the Mac AppStore. [import]uid: 10327 topic_id: 3121 reply_id: 303121[/import]

That would be interesting and useful. But if Lion would have iOS compatibility, then you can continue to create iOS apps but with a new screen resolution, or rather a series of new screen resolutions. Then it would be at par with Microsoft  [import]uid: 3826 topic_id: 3121 reply_id: 9174[/import]

Hey, I’d be up for that! Time to send Steve an email… [import]uid: 10327 topic_id: 3121 reply_id: 9218[/import]

We are obviously interested in how important this is to you. Anybody else? [import]uid: 54 topic_id: 3121 reply_id: 9233[/import]

Oh, so this is serious, this is not another one of the Corona on the iPad type threads of a wishlist.

Hi Eric,
Yes, this would be an interesting and useful thing if the Mac OSX was also added to the fold.

cheers,

to be honest i’d rather Ansca concentrated on mobile development (bugfixing & new features)…Android/iPhone/WP7 etc

and maybe an integrated IDE (like Torque, CuttleFishEngine, GameSalad etc)

I too think being able to build a Mac and Windows desktop version of your game or application would be a useful thing. However I’d also like to see more mobile platforms (like Windows Mobile 7 and Blackberry) supported before any desktops platforms.

I would be very interested to hear Ansca if a desktop version of Corona is on the desk or science fiction… [import]uid: 8970 topic_id: 3121 reply_id: 15757[/import]

Personally I’m with the people who would rather Ansca concentrate on mobile. There are already plenty of development tools for desktop, but Corona is already the best of the best for iPhone game development and there’s still plenty of room for new features (integrated ads are just the first thing that comes to mind.) If they were really itching to add more platforms, I’d be more interested in Corona on WP7 than Corona on desktop. [import]uid: 12108 topic_id: 3121 reply_id: 15769[/import]

Since I’m not at all up to speed on other development tools, and I have apps I’m now working on that would be perfect for the Mac Desktop, I’d love to see Ansca do both… work on a desktop version as well as continue to add features to the mobile versions. +1

I’m interested in this more than I’m interested in support for BlackBerry and Windows Phone.

But I’m even more interested in full support for iAds, GameCenter and OpenFeint.

iAds > OpenFeint > Mac AppStore > Windows Phone > BlackBerry [import]uid: 7026 topic_id: 3121 reply_id: 15917[/import]
