Corona SDK for Linux and Tools

Just stating some thoughts , as there is the freeside of Corona SDK i think it would be wonderful to see Corona SDK with its tools available for Linux cause i am a linux heavy user and coding with Linux is fun and can provide alot of help from the other many tools that are available with linux with Lua…

Would love to see Corona SDk on Linux …

I don’t think this is a big must for Corona Labs right now… So i’m not sure when it’ll be available… But if they did have it for Linux then i would have Ubuntu instead of Windows right now.

Yeah that is the same with me , i prefer Linux over windows but because i like Corona SDK for many reason that why i am running one of my computer with Windows just to meet the Corona SDK installer for Windows. But it would be great to see it on Linux.

Cant you just get “Wine” Or something that can run .exe files in Linux?

I’d love a native linux version as well!

I’m using corona through Playonlinux. Works really well.

Got a 32-bit wineprefix, with corefonts, vcrun2008, vcrun2010, vcrun2012, wmp9 installed.

To build an apk, i have jdk-7u76-windows-i586.exe installed. jdk8 won’t work.

There is a feedback request for Linux here:  http://feedback.coronalabs.com/forums/188732-corona-sdk-feature-requests-feedback/suggestions/4177002-linux

But you will see that we’ve declined it. Walter explains why in the post.

Now that Perk.com has taken us under their wing, we may reconsider it, but for now, we have too many other high priority items to manage. You can continue to vote on this if you wish.

I’ve heard back from Perk, and it’s not completely out of the question. We will think about it among all of the other things we have going.

I’m not going to un-decline the feedback request yet. This is a long way from a “yes”, but it’s not a hard “No” either.

Well After reading that Link he does have a point, i guess if Corona Labs can be helped , lets build a communit of Linux users who are happy to try and integate Corona with Linux and build tools for it. and it will also help the Corona Labs with the Work Load. but to this point Corona Labs might need to have a Opensource Side for the Linux contributors to help develop this side of the SDK as it focus on the more important Busniess side of the Product. We are all programmers and doing something we love is something that we can do to build up the Corona Communit.

I think it will have to be a collaborated effort us who wants to work for the Linux side of this wonderful SDK. Maybe have a Forum Dedicated for Linux Discussion for this new venture if the Team at Corona Labs Allow it.

Just an Opinion …but would be nice to have somethin like that thou …
