Corona SDK for Poor People?

I would love to buy Corona, but the $350/year price point is pretty high for some of us poor folk

Are there any alternatives such as paying monthly?

You could pay $200 for just the iOS or Android version, and once you release the app there use the money coming in to pay for the upgrade and release in the other market. (Google Play market pays out much more quickly than Apple, and there isn’t an approval process so you can get it released sooner).

All things considered 350 is pretty cheap, Marmalade is $500/year and is missing a lot of the built-in functionality that Corona has. [import]uid: 181948 topic_id: 32845 reply_id: 130567[/import]

It is indeed pretty expensive in comparison to others since it’s one of they few with a yearly fee instead of a 1-time pay for most. But I do believe it’s worth it for the ease of use though.

What I’ll do is not pay until I have atleast 2-3 game ready for release, then pay for the license and release the games 1-2 months apart (all while developing more of course), that way I’ll make the most I can in that year. And see how much money I make with that to pay for another year. Anyways, if you’re a student like me, I believe you can pay $250 for the pro license or $150 for the indie license

Also remember you have to pay an additional $99/year to even submit your app to the app store, and I believe $30 1-time for android [import]uid: 53195 topic_id: 32845 reply_id: 130573[/import]

Now that I think about it, it does seem like a decent deal.

I thought Android was free to publish? [import]uid: 141560 topic_id: 32845 reply_id: 130575[/import]

There is a one time $25 fee for Google Play. Amazon has a $99 fee, but it’s waved the first year. There are no fees for Barnes and Nobel.

I know when I first jumped into this space, I didn’t have the money to do it. I had a friend spot me about half the money to get an Indie license. I went iOS route first. $200 + $100 to Apple is a lot, but keep in mind you don’t have to pay until you’re ready to release and with any luck you make that money back shortly.

It would not be wise for Corona Labs to do a monthly rate because, you would pay for one month and cancel.

Don’t forget Corona is free up until you are ready to publish your game. So go create the game and then when you are ready to go, but the license then.
