Personally I would advise that you download the starter version first:
https://developer.coronalabs.com/downloads/coronasdk
and work through some video tutorials:
http://learningcorona.com/
Corona is fantastic, so after some practice I’m sure you’ll see the benefit to buying the pro version, but I since it is a yearly fee, why pay for time when you are learning the basics? Better to use the “pro-time” when you are actually making the app that you want to release.
Do you already have any programming experience? I’ve seen people on the forums before who want to make a game without doing any programming, and Corona doesn’t work like that. It does have lots of sample projects built in, but you need to know the basics before you can understand what they are doing.
I could explain the brackets and end keyword, but to be honest they are some of the most basic parts of Lua, which tells me you haven’t studied much (if any) of the language yet. The tutorials on learningcorona.com should be more than able to help you out there.
With regards to “submit apps for monetary gain”, it’s not an easy win. There are a huge number of people developing apps that make no money, so you really need to have a good idea of how you plan to monetise the app (paid, adverts, in-app purchases etc). On top of that, the app itself needs to be based on a good idea, and on top of that you need to implement the whole thing well. I wish you all the best, but don’t want you to go into this without some forewarning of the challenges ahead.
Lastly, for your first time on a forum I’d say your post was just fine.
You:
- Asked a straightforward question
- Gave some background info
- Didn’t type the whole thing in capital letters or textspeak
- You didn’t reply 5 mins later saying “It’s ok I found the answer” without sharing the answer
Remember that last one, there is a special place in hell for people who do that
Good luck!
