Corona simulator plays fine - iOS simulator sloooooooooooow as molases

Hey guys,

Anyone have any idea why I’m seeing a HUGE discrepancy in gameplay between the corona simulator on which my game plays fine at full speed, and the iOS simulator where my game plays SUPER slow and my character feels like he’s on the moon with no gravity

basically seems like I’m getting 10FPS on iOS simulator, but that’s not the case as my score count goes up as it should fast, and seems to refresh at the 30FPS

the game plays closer to corona’s simulator on the device, but slower over all…

At a loss here :stuck_out_tongue:

Have you tested on device?

I have heard several instances where the iOS (xcode) simulator is incredibly slow while our simulator and the device itself are just fine. (If you search will find other threads on this also.) [import]uid: 52491 topic_id: 30969 reply_id: 123858[/import]

Yeah… its about halfway between the two…

Ill start pruning and see if I can shake the slowdown
Frustrating. [import]uid: 157863 topic_id: 30969 reply_id: 123865[/import]

You really need to file a bug report with Apple about the iOS Simulator problem. If it runs fine on an iOS device but slow on the iOS Simulator, only Apple controls that. The more users who file Apple bug reports, the greater chance they will fix the problems. [import]uid: 7559 topic_id: 30969 reply_id: 123921[/import]

Well, I’d do that if I could narrow it down to the simulator.

Let’s say I have my “speed” set to 20

On the Corona Simulator, I’m seeing 20.

on the device, I’m seeing 15

on the iOS simulator, I’m seeing 5…

so I can’t be so sure to blame the iOS sim just yet.

Nothing is as it seems so far with this one game (i Have 2 in dev )

Game#2 is exact on all three… so where’s the problem lie with #1? I dunno.

I found that the iOS simulator ran very slowly for my app, but on the device it ran perfectly fine. Hopefully at some point Apple will iron out whatever problem is causing the low frame rate.

@digitaloranges, if you and others don’t report the problem, Apple may not fix the problem. Apple fixes issues based on the number of reports they receive. [import]uid: 7559 topic_id: 30969 reply_id: 124243[/import]
