Corona SVG Level Builder (SLB) is a set of libraries to be used in a Corona SDK game that allows you to create Corona SDK game elements, levels and maps by just drawing in the free and open source vector drawing Inkscape. Everything you draw in Inkscape is automatically converted into Corona SDK display objects, Lua tables and/or physics bodies (optionally).

You use Corona SVG Level Builder for:

  1. Platformers.
  2. Top view racing games.
  3. Labyrinths and mazes.
  4. Slingshot based games.
  5. Game asset management
  6. Dynamic game content
  7. Downloadable remote content
  8. Infinite scrolling games
  9. Character and level packs (define the items in the SVG, read them with SLB and import them in your game).

Those are all real examples in which the SLB was used. The possibilities are endless.

Looks good but seems expensive, I use Level Director and it was $10 ($5 off in December using LD5OFF). [import]uid: 158620 topic_id: 34338 reply_id: 136488[/import]

Thanks for the reply Elliott. Actually Corona SVG Level Builder is more expensive than other solutions because:

  1. It is not a closed software, it is a Lua library, so you can do anything with it and then change the code as needed. So it is up being a level creation solution, but adapts to anything you need as exposed on the topic (asset management, download remote assets, etc). Closed level editors on the other hand are only that and you can’t expand or do anything beyond what the interface of them offers.

It uses Inkscape. So you can expand the functions using new types of parameters in Inkscape, new kinds of tools, etc. Actually possibilities are endless as opposed to other solutions.

  1. It also comes with a full game source code. A good learning resource, but also has the game flow done, so you can use in any game (menus, pause, level selection, ranking, etc). [import]uid: 10990 topic_id: 34338 reply_id: 136507[/import]
