Corona VS UNity

1.       Can we have the list of devices that would be compatible with corona SDK ?

2.       Will the Corona SDK be able to develop game for FACEBOOK CANVAS ? Previously we used cocoa and we were able to develop web game for Facebook canvas games.

3.       Can you share with us quick tutorial links where we can find more about corona development.

4.       Will the SDK support all the 3rd party SDK like MAT , Localytics , https://tapdaq.com/ ,Facebook SDK and other Advertising SDK.

Some answers to your questions:

#1 List of devices… well that would be a long list, but…

  • Android - Any device running a reasonably recent version of Android ( 2.3.3 or later if I recall ** correctly**).
  • Apple - Any device running a reasonably recent version of iOS ( 6 or later ).
  • Apple TV
  • Windows (32)
  • OS X
  • Windows Phone
  • Kindle (really part of the Android grab bag)
  • Android TV (same deal)

#2 - No idea what that is.  Sorry.

#3 - I think there are plenty of resources here, so I’ll leave this for someone else to answer other than providing these links:

#4 - Yes, you can have pretty much anything you want via Enterprise and some native coding.  If you’re not up for this, you can get someone to write you a plugin or ask for it and hope it gets on the list:

Oh and I didn’t see any questions specific to the title here (versus Unity?)

Comparing Corona and Unity is IMHO an apples versus oranges comparison.  Unity is a 3D* Engine Corona is 2D SDK.

* I don’t want to start a war here, but Unity says it does 2D however it is still a 3D engine.

If you don’t want to mess with z axis corona is the way to go. Lua is easy to master. It is a hill. You have to put a little time into it, but it is all down hill after that. If you need the z axis then use unity. Another thing to note is you can use corona inside unity via corona cards.

Canvas is advertising on facebook, as of right now their is no way to do this. Maybe with html if ever comes out of beta and gets more work.
