We are working aggressively on Coronado , a Windows-based IDE specifically for the Corona SDK. Here are the features:
* Color syntax highlighting for Lua AND the Corona API
* Code-completion and intellisense style help for instantiated Corona API objects
* Scene editor which generates Lua code into your project
* Support for network folders, to open/edit projects on Mac from PC
* Image viewer with auto-trace for physics images
* Image packing and automated sprite sheet generation
* Audio preview
Alpha version expected to be available as early as end of next week.
Our price will be $69.95, but alpha “early adopters” will get it for $49.95. Free minor-level updates, 40% off major upgrades.
Who we are: prior to starting DreamBlue, we worked for major game development companies (Acclaim, Midway Studios) and have been developing games and applications since the 1980’s.
We’re really excited about using Coronado to make some excellent products with the Corona SDK, and know others will be as well.
Currently, I’m asking anyone interested in the alpha release to e-mail me at jnagle@dreamblue.com.
Definitely would like to hear feedback from the Ansca folks.
It’s like you are taking all of the best features from the current tools and putting them in a really tasty pie.
That’s definitely the idea. I’m sure there’ll be plenty of ideas for improvement over time, but I think the feature set represents the primary building blocks of most Corona-based games.
I have seen IndeED but have not yet downloaded it. It really looks great from what I’ve seen. And giving it away for free is incredibly generous.
I was initially reluctant to develop such an IDE…after all, I bought Corona so I could work on my game ideas, not write more tools. The problem as I saw it was that though there are quite a few 3rd party tools, there wasn’t one umbrella tool that brought everything together, especially in Windows.
I’m looking forward to seeing IndeED and all the things you have planned for it. The feature set you write about on your site is very impressive.
So in my “regular job”, I co-own a software company that for the past 8 years has been doing custom laser scanning systems for companies all over the US. (Prior to that I was a console video game developer for Acclaim/Inevitable.)
This month, my biz partner and I decided it was time to shut down and do something else with our lives.
For me, it’s going to be full-time mobile/web app development and consulting.
So what this means is that Coronado IDE will have to be back-burnered. And while I have had a few enthusiastic e-mails for it, the response was not nearly enough to justify a full-court press development effort.
So I’ll continue development as time allows. Meantime, I’ve got both contract work and my own original development that I have to focus on for income. If anything changes, I’ll post it here.
that’s to bad but I can understand that and feel with you. I got a few nice encouring words and even ONE great soul donated something (thanks again) but that’s it. Considering the huge userbase Corona surpossingly has, the feadback is very very low!
Anyway, I hope the future will be bright for you. Good luck!
I have been using your IDE for a few weeks. This is a great product. I do have a few suggestions (not many). Once I wrap up my current project, I’ll try provide some feedback. But the first suggestion would be replace the toolbar icons with something smaller in size.
