With regard to this functionality

Is there a list or is it a standard, for example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-1

I’ve looked into this before and while there are lists of country codes matching GPS coordinates, the lists are huge and often times not free.

If someone else has a better answer, please post about it.  I’d love to hear it too.
