Course plotting

This will sound like a dumb question (especially coming from someone who’s had a game in the store for nearly a year) but…

How would you plot a course for a collection of physics objects?

Lets say you’ve got a series of circles and they need to move around the screen in a circle, an arc or just a straight line. I don’t want to force their position, because that causes problems with the physics engine, and I’m not concerned with calculating the points of the course (bezier curves here are not the issue either.

I simply want a series of objects to follow each other round the screen, but not be jointed together.
