Crazy Mob

Thanks. I used AdMob.

And as complexity of execution.

What animation it is more difficult to make?

Animation in “Hungry Oni” you the main movement of rectangles which designate hands and feet.  Compare it to smooth animation in “Crazy Mob”.

And what gameplay it is more difficult to realize?

In “Crazy Mob” there is that of that isn’t present in “Hungry Oni” (runner mode, big levels, physics, pinch). A lot of time at me left that monsters walked on platforms, turned, springed, didn’t stick where. I could tell a lot of things still.

I will tell the thoughts on all this:

“Hungry Oni” game from known AAA developer therefore you couldn’t but simply make it the app of week in spite of the fact that it very weak and easily realized. I won’t claim that they to you paid for it.

I consider that for the AAA projects of developers there has to be a separate place on a site close to PR and advertizing.

I don’t know why you chose “Penguin Recue”, but I think that it was a mistake. If you want to choose something from last weeks don’t forget to look that was current week.

I not whom don’t want to offend. I very much like Corona SDK. Simply to beginners very difficult to rise. I looked for support and honesty and where still to look for it as on a site for developers.

ipkasputin,  Just let it go will you.  When I submitted my first app to the showcase last year guess what happened… Nothing.  I didn’t win app of the week/month/year or anything.  What did happen was that I took it on the chin and just got on with life.  Quality is subjective.  A lot of developers have slightly blinkered views when it comes to their own work and what you may think is awesome someone else might not.  Cool graphics and amazing animation do not necessarily make a good game.  With all due respects to Robert Nay just look at Bubble Ball - insanely primitive graphics, but brilliant gameplay.

Personally I think my game (StopIt!) is brilliant and original and innovative.  Sadly, the rest of the word will probably never see it.

^^ well said. And don’t forget… App of the week here means nothing. Ultimate success measure is your download count on the App Store(s) and revenues. Wish you all the best on those fronts. If your app is truly deserving then you will achieve ultimate bragging rights in no time. Keep well.

Completely with you I agree. But I spoke about complexity of development. On a site devoted to development in case of a choice of the application of week complexity of development shall have great value.

Compare for example “Need for speed” and “GTA”. Both have a qualitative graphics, a sound, animation, a gameplay and it is a lot of fans. But “GTA” is more than variety, it is more than opportunities, it is more difficult to develop it, in it is more nested work.

You can tell that these games of different genres can’t be compared them. But also you  choose from different genres and categories. You compare applications and games.

Thanks, but you kidding me. On the “Google Play” without money, PR and advertising is not to get into tops. There is no room for new applications. Much has been written about it.  A lot of good applications got lost in it.

Only because something is more complex to develop it’s not automatically better. I can have very simple gamedesign or graphics but they are straight to the point, on the other hand I can have high complex system that are just too much. To refer to your example with Need for Speed and GTA, does the higher gameplay complexity of GTA makes it a better game? Some would say yes and others would say no. It’s always a personal opinion. And with the app of the week it’s the same.

I didn’t speak that complexity of development automatically does game of the best. At everyone a personal opinion. For this reason there are criteria of an assessment, such as quality of a graphics, sound, music, gameplay, plot… As this site is devoted development of games I suggested to add to this list complexity of development. After all same not a site devoted to games and gamers. Here developers communicate. For developers huge value and interest represents that in the application.

The problem is that when you choosed an app of the week there is no specific evaluation of graphics, sound, story … All of us simply see general phrases for example - “bold graphics, spunky audio and amusing gameplay”. It is so possible to tell about many games.

But there’s the problem you see,  it’s difficult to evaluate things like graphics, sound and story as the app of the week covers all the different types of apps that can be produced with Corona - games, ebooks, educational, utilities etc.

You can’t compare things like graphics and sound between apps as one app may have had everything done by just one person, while another may have had a small team of artists or a professional musician.

Anyway… I’m hungry.  Time for tea.

About it I also wrote above. If the choice comes from applications which can’t be compared, let complexity of development become the principal criterion of an assessment. After all we on a site of developers. Or choose several applications in different categories.

First, i think that say that your game is evidently better than other game because… animations have more frames o gameplay and coding are more complex or u think that your app has cooler name, (in my opinion) is to be prepotent and not to evaluate other people’s work.

You have to think that exist a lot kind of games, like other user has said, you can find educational games or games for kids, with veeeery simple mechanics and even almost without animations.

Also that a game has “simple” characters design is not the same that “bad” graphics because, like in hungry oni, the style is consistent in all game objects and backgrounds. All with the same style and level of detail, getting a unique style and (most important) solid, that player can like it or not but he never will feel that that something…fails.

Is best game Crysis than Pac-Man or Space Invaders or (for me one of the three best games in the history) Tetris? If you answer “yes”…ok, for you games are only technology, complexity and quantity.

And yes, i think that your game looks really good but are two different things… because like you a lot of other programmers/teams have presented their games and only one winner…rest are “bad” games? no.

Bye
