CRAZY reason my app update just got rejected from Apple and why you should care

So long story short I have had an update in review for weeks now. I wasn’t too concerned because I knew the new kids section was gonna launch with iOS 7(tomorrow) so I knew that they would approve it the day before. Today I got an email from Apple saying that they couldn’t approve my app, no worries I thought to myself. So I logged into the Resolution Center to see the exact reason. To my surprise Apple rejected my app due to iCloud storage and commerce to kids without parental consent.

By now you are probably saying, yeah so what, get to the point. My app doesn’t use any IAPs or iCloud storage!!! I then looked at the attached images Apple provided and the app isn’t even mine!! This happened to both free and paid version of my app I was updating. So instead of reviewing Spelling Monster(my app) Apple reviewed SpellBoard and rejected MY app(Spelling Monster).

Aside from appealing and commenting in the Rejection Center is there ANYTHING I can do so I can make it into the new section for tomorrow? I honestly doubt there is. I am amazed that this even happened.

I reached out to the creator of SpellBoard via email and he said he has had this happen in the past. He also got his update accepted(MY update). So it seems Apple reviewed MY app(Spelling Monster) and Accepted it and entered it/submitted it as SpellBoard, and reviewed HIS app (SpellBoard) and rejected it but entered it/submitted it as Spelling Monster. So he got my acceptance and I got his rejection. smh

LOL, I don’t mean to laugh but that’s pretty funny.  Hopefully it will all get sorted out soon.

It is kinda funny, and I’m sure it’ll get sorted out eventually.

Apple responded back within an hour and promptly placed my app back in review! Yay!

wow, this is crazy!

good luck

Sorry this happened, but yeah, it is funny. Still, just goes to show that the App Store Police are just like the rest of us: human, fallible and almost certainly hugely overworked. I hope the Apple HQ coffee is good.

This is a really funny story :D. I am feeling sorry for you though - I hope this does not happen with my next projects too !
