Creating Mac Apps wit Lua?

Hi there,

Does anybody have any good info on the following:

  1. Wether or not there is the option of Mac Apps created with Corona in the foreseeable future (I would be curious to see how they would tackle alternative forms of input, in that case)
  2. Wether there are alternatives to Corona for creating Mac Apps in Lua.

I’ve grown so fond of Lua that I don’t want to code in Flex / AIR / Actionscript anymore!

Cheers,

Mac Apps are planned for Q3 of this year, as stated on the roadmap, I *think* - it may actually have been a blog post.

For alternatives, it depends if you are creating utility type apps or games; Love2D uses Lua and can build Mac apps so that is one option, although I haven’t played with it enough to give a strong opinion on it, it does seem nice. (Not as good as Corona, no - but nice nonetheless.)

Hope this helps!

I agree with @peach.
BTW I`ve played a bit with Love2d but honestly even it being “nice” besides free, well, it is so much far away from Corona that it is impossible to even “measure” the distance between them IMHO.

PS: Starting right from their way of “debug” where even to print one miserable line in the command line is like a very hard thing to get working (principally for Mac users - cannot speak PC-side of it btw).

PS2 : But am looking for a SDK to build Mac apps as well as you are and I really hope that my favorite one that is CoronaSDK gets into building Mac apps as soon as they can.
Sorry, only letting my .2c.

Moai SDK http://getmoai.com/products/sdk/ [import]uid: 9058 topic_id: 30100 reply_id: 120618[/import]

@Andriy - True, Moai is definitely another good option for Mac apps, although it is quite a lot harder to learn than Corona so it does depend on the user, which is worth keeping in mind. (Just throwing that out there for anyone viewing this thread in the future - Love2D in my experience is a little easier, though less powerful.)

That said, soon Corona will have Mac Apps and then I know what I’ll be using  [import]uid: 52491 topic_id: 30100 reply_id: 120815[/import]
