Crosstown Smash: Like River City Ransom? You'll LOVE this

Yo guys! I wanted to let everyone know about our new game “Crosstown Smash”, and that it’s out now in Android, iOS and Amazon stores. We’ve included awesome pixelart and really cool music to create a quality game that’s a blast to play for hours on end.

We took time to make this game as fun as possible. There are lots of items to collect (to get the full 100% completion), two different control schemes, lots of enemies to defeat, and 4 different characters to play as. We also included 3 save states so that you can let your little sister play. Like I said before, we included some seriously killer chiptunes from Factor6. You can find his soundcloud page here, and I suggest you check it out.

I’ve linked the trailer for you guys to check out. Please let us know what you think. We put a lot of time in on this one, and we are committed to updates to make sure it’s the fun gameplay experience we intended. Get at me at alex(at)panc(dot)co with any comments or suggestions.

Thanks for checking it out, and we’ll see you around Darien City!

Hey folks…

Just wanted to update this post to let everyone know that Crosstown Smash is now FREE! You can run out and download it right now. In fact, you should do just that. I think it’s the cure for cancer, is a fun game and will butter your toast for you, all AT THE SAME TIME (one of more of these statements may be false).

Check it out on Android now, iOS coming upon app approval!

I liked this game. But the controls is so small that I miss all the time. kinda ruins the feeling of control. But the game itself is really cool

Christian, I’m glad you like it! It’s been a learning experience but I’m building on those lessons for future releases.

You’re not the first person to say the controls are too small. Given how big they are compared to the screen real estate, I am afraid of making them any bigger or you wouldn’t be able to see of the action. I will experiment with sizing up the controls with user interaction so that folks that want bigger controls can get it.

Can I ask, with which device are you playing it?

On my Sony Xperia Z2 the are pretty small. Misses them all the time.

Maybe devices with full HD makes them smaller than you intended them to be? Anyway, they really don’t need to be visually bigger. make them 50% bigger, but the extended part could be invincible? That way you still move if you miss the visual part

Even if the controls were invisible, your finger would still obscure the part of the screen touched. I’m going to take the suggestion, however, and will increase the sizes of the controls. Might as well try it!

Now, my question is, are you missing both the action buttons (right side) AND the direction buttons (left side)? Is it one or the other that you are missing more often?

When I built my space shooter, my fire buttons were visually just big enough to tap, but after feed back I added a bunch of transparent pixels to the button to make bigger tap targets.  If you spread the up and down buttons out a bit, you could make them considerably larger.

I missed all the buttons here and there. But maybe up/down a little more than left/right. First I thought the coding was bad, that it didn’t respond to touch, but then I saw that I actually missed the button itself.
