Hello everyone!
I’m Alex, the lead developer over at the indie studio Panc Software. I wanted to let everyone know about our new game “Crosstown Smash”. It’s available right now on iOS, Android and Amazon app stores. Check out the trailer here:
It’s a sprawling-world brawler, and we included some RPG elements, and a cool collection feature. In addition, we’ve put in 4 playable characters right out of the gate, a large roster of special and “hyper” attacks, 3 saved games and a bunch of different types of enemies and boss battles. It’s a pixelart game, and I do not think a day will come when Panc Software isn’t staunchly in the camp of pixelart-based games.
The important thing that I want to note here, is that everything has been achieved within Corona. We work with a genius chiptune composer (Factor6 - check him out here) and we coded everything from the ground up in Corona and using included APIs, including all enemy AI, inventory maintenance and save state implementation. I personally wanted to show how much you can accomplish in Corona without being a full-time developer.
This release took approximately 1 year to complete, including the in-house development of all sprites and graphic assets. We put in a ton of fixes in the most recent game version, mostly relating to the gamepad control scheme.
Also, we decided to post all of the GFX assets to opengameart.org under the CC-By-3.0 license. Check it out here. Feel free to use them in any game or project you’re working on.
We’d love to hear about what you guys think! Feel free to email me at alex (at) panc (dot) co, or get at me on twitter @pancsoftware.
