Crypto support - RSA, AES and PBKDF2

Hi there!

As part of the road-map there is encryption/decryption listed - that’s super awesome, since I would be in need for those!

What crypto algorithms will be supported (RSA and AES)?
Very important, are there plans to also add key derivation functions, especially PBKDF2 as part of the crypto APIs?

Any more specifics on the timeline (days/months/years)?

Is anyone from Ansca able to comment on this question around timeline specifics? I am about to start a new project and knowing some more about this would help me a lot in picking the right environment.

I’d also be interested in this. It would be nice to encrypt save files easily. [import]uid: 122310 topic_id: 29212 reply_id: 119266[/import]

We currently don’t have a plan to add encryption. The problem is the US Export laws/regulations are very complicated. Our concern is if we include it with Corona, all you developers will be required to declare you have encryption in your app and then go through tons of red tape to get your apps posted to the stores, regardless of whether you are using it or not.

Understood. That makes sense to me. [import]uid: 122310 topic_id: 29212 reply_id: 119366[/import]

Thanks for the clarification - would be great if there could be some form of plug-ins that might allow apps that need it to include it. Does hashing fall into the same bucket? [import]uid: 118947 topic_id: 29212 reply_id: 119884[/import]
