Cursor disappear

I have been having to close and restart LG many times in a day because the cursor disappears. That along with dozens of other bugs makes LG a PIA to use. I have never seen something so buggy and I will quit using it ASAP. Breakpoints don’t get stopped at and phantom break points do. Sometimes it takes 20 seconds to single step. LG is the buggiest program I have ever used. Period.

Hello Tedsdogs,

Welcome to the Corona Forums!

Sorry about these issues, it would help us very much if you could tell us which platform are you running.

I’d like to correct you by saying your computer is the buggiest computer you’ve ever used.  I have LG installed on various computers both Mac and PC and don’t have any issues.

Does that make you feel better JonPM. Good. Now go back where you came from.

I’m on Win and Mac but use Mac 99%+. I had many of the same issues on 1.7 and was very hopeful with 1.9. I have read many other numerous complaints from others about how slow this thing gets. I have seen it blamed on the Java update, etc.

When I purchased this I told you guys if this was not so buggy you would have yourselves an incredible platform and I long to have that platform. But if on some computers it works great and others not so - that is not the computer as some people think so (having no issues with any other software but this - thank you). There is something that you are missing.

BTW - I am not flaming you here. I AM FRUSTRATED - and wrote my first post after restarting the 10th time. Do you know how much it sucks to wait 20 seconds for a single step. I am trying to get work done here and the tool is continually getting in my way.

You are on the right track but you have a ways to go. I don’t want my money back - I want a tool that works consistently.

If you need logs, tell me what I need to do - but I don’t have a lot of time to track down and try to repro all of the issues.

Hello Tedsdogs,

We understand your frustration. Please upload the logs via h elp-> upload logs.

There is nothing wrong with your system as we have seen some very strange behaviour when certain programs (ie splashtop streamer and others.) The debugger not connecting can be related to having multiple network interfaces (ie VPNs, Hamachi, Virtualbox/Vmware.)

The cursor disappearing bug seems to be another JDK related issue, as suggested by the following post:

https://netbeans.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=119617

Ahh yes, my apologies.  You must be correct though.  If it works great for a ton of other people, but not you, then of course it must be all LG’s fault.

If saying LG is “a PIA to use” and “the buggiest program I have ever used” is not flaming, than I don’t know what is.  We developers already get a ton of flak from inept users in the form of unwarranted 1 star reviews, etc.  Sucks to see a great tool denounced in a public forum.  Personally I would have just emailed them, or else have been a little more professional about it.

Logs updated. Thanks for your response and honesty about your work and the complexity of todays intermingled systems.

It would be nice if the fanboys who can’t understand that would stay out of this.

@JonPM,

Thanks for your support and we are happy it works for you! We are really stumped as to why the program works perfectly fine on some computers (all of our test computers) and fails miserably on others.

@Tedsdogs,

Thanks for the logs, they are giving us some interesting feedback and some problems we have never seen before. Thankfully it might be something we can fix but we need some more information.

  1. Does the issue occur on all projects? How about the sample projects (like File->new project->physics)?
  2. Does the cursor disappearing issue happen on any particular file?
  3. Are you editing other files too? It seems like the IDE is running out of memory due to the HTML/CSS Editor.
  4. Are you using a look and feel other than system native? (this could cause rendering problems)

@Tedsdogs,

We think we found a common thread here with all the performance problems. There is something we can do about it (incremental parsing) that will make it feasible to edit files > 2000 lines of code. Please let us know if you are editing large files (>2k loc.)
