Dear New Guy - Don't Delete That Thread

Hello to all new community members (guys and gals).

Please don’t post a thread to the forums, gather some answers, then delete the thread.

Your questions and the answers have value to you and future readers.

Thanks and welcome to the community.  Happy Developing!

PS - Those of us who answer questions, really don’t like to spend time only to have you wipe out our value.  i.e. Don’t throw away the effort of those who help you.

I was kind of hoping that your first post would simply say:

I agree Ed.

There is no shame in asking for help anyone! We all need help sometimes.

It also helps other newcomers who may have similar issues, as they will then have a chance of finding your post via a google or forum search.

On more than one occasion I’ve:

  • Googled a problem that I’m struggling with.
  • Been pleasantly surprised to see results describing a similar problem.
  • Find a Corona forum post describing my exact problem.
  • Then I see my own username as the original post, and remember that I’ve had the problem before, and that I’ve posted the solution I came up with.

If I’d deleted the thread, I’d have to solve the problem all over again each time.

(I could learn from my mistakes and stop running into the same problem over and over, but where is the fun in that :) ?)

Hello all.  It’s me again.

I still see you new guys deleting threads.  Please don’t.

If you answer your own question, simply post back and tell us you did, then give a synopsis of the solution.

This helps future readers in two ways:

  1. They get to see your answer.
  2. They get to see that self-solving happens and they can be a rock star too.
