Deciding on what platform to develop for

Wasn’t sure where to post this, so here I am

First of all, I’m trying to decide whether or not I should invest in a Mac Mini or something like that right away or waiting until later.

I’ve got 5 Android based devices and 2 iOS powered devices in the house, and while I prefer iOS by a longshot, I can see the Kindle Fire doing fantastically and have been thinking of developing some games for that platform.

Anyway, I’m wondering if anybody has any data on how sales are for apps in the Amazon Marketplace for the Fire.

I think that’ll help me decide whether or not to pursue just Fire apps for now (and possibly regular ol’ Android too) or invest in a Mac and go after iOS at the same time.

Also, I know that sales from the Android Market are trumped by the App Store, but I haven’t found any data for app sales on the Fire yet.

So help me decide… Save up for a little longer and develop for iOS and Android at the same time, or get started today for the Fire? [import]uid: 78380 topic_id: 18568 reply_id: 318568[/import]

Why limit yourself?

Look into dynamic content scaling, and once you understand how that works, develop for all platforms at once!

Careful planning goes a long way in the beginning, but it is completely possible to convert from one platform to the other, with a minimum of work (mostly assets). [import]uid: 5317 topic_id: 18568 reply_id: 71363[/import]

Since you have hardware for both, you should probably do both. Though my understanding is that sales in the android market are not that great, but there’s a lot of success from ads there.

The Fire market is too young to get a feel for if pay apps are going to go over well there or not.

i think extra 100$ for pro subscription well worth android market potential
if you have a great game- it will sell good on one platform or another [import]uid: 16142 topic_id: 18568 reply_id: 71598[/import]
