Default.png - making it pause!

Hi Guys, just ready to submit my first app to Apple but then read somewhere that Apple may insist on a splash screen. I have created my Default-Landscape.png (my app is Ipad only and landscape only) and it shows up perfectly but lasts an instant. My program doesn’t need to load up loads of resources at launch time so my question is - Is there any way to make the splash screen pause for a few seconds before automatically disappearing?

Thanks

Make a splash screen. [import]uid: 13560 topic_id: 26094 reply_id: 105682[/import]

You misread it. Splash screen ~= Launch Screen.

Launch Screens are intended to make the app appear like it launches faster. Apple reserves the right to reject your app for Splash Screens.

Sorry ewing, I am totally confused now! I thought a Splash screen was the same as a Launch screen. My app loads very quickly so I don’t need a screen to hide the loading processes. On the other hand having a friendly “splash” screen looks more professional rather than going straight into the app. Do you HAVE to have a default.png. If I used my own splash screen then I could control everything, but I’m assuming the default.png is used by Apple and I have no control over it. Hope this makes sense!!

Carefully read:
http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/documentation/userexperience/conceptual/mobilehig/IconsImages/IconsImages.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40006556-CH14-SW2

(Go to the section labeled “Launch Images”)

Thanks ewing, I had read this doc for the icon issues but hadn’t seen the Launch screen. I have now created a default.png image of my 1st screen and am forgetting about a splash screen.

Thanks for all your help.
