Devs, which iPhone 6 are you going to get?

Hi everyone,

I had an iPhone 5 for almost two years and now think of upgrading to an iPhone 6 for development purposes. My other phone which was intended to replace my iPhone 5 is a HTC One M8.

I cannot decide whether to get the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus. From a developer point of view, what would be your preference. Go with a smaller screen or the larger one?

Hard decision to make…

I went with pre-ordering both, but most of my curiosity is for the iPhone 6 Plus. The pseudo-iPad views and the double tapping to bring down all the icons are two unknowns that I feel I need to understand and test my business-focused apps on more than the iPhone 6’s bigger screen.

Not phone model specific but still on iPhone 6 only: of serious interest to me is the mostly overlooked InApp part of Apple Pay. This takes physical payments in a whole different and fascinating direction. (https://developer.apple.com/apple-pay/)

As a developer I’d agree that I’m also more curious about the iPhone 6 Plus for the same reasons @appilee mentions.

However personally I’d most likely carry around an iPhone 6.

Being based in Korea, I’ll have to wait though as Apple has no immediate plans on releasing it here. I’ll most likely have to wait until the end-of-year before I can get my hands on one  :( … ( or two  )

My 23 year old stole my upgrade to get a 6 Plus.  I won’t be able to order mine until the middle of October and then it will be a matter of what’s available.

Though in my case, for my day-to-day use, I’d prefer a 6 to a 6 Plus.  I think the phablets are just too big to use as a day to day phone.  But as a photographer, I’m intrigued by the optical stabilization of the camera.

I don’t want to carry around a 6 Plus, but from a development standpoint that’s the one that I *think* might need more tweaking to make sure apps look/work right, so I may “have” to go with that one. I’m waiting until I can walk into AT&T and upgrade (because 10 minutes before that I’ll have sold my 4S on Craigslist to finance the purchase) so I know it will probably be mid-Nov for me.

I was hoping there would be an iPod Touch that matches the size of the iPhone 6 Plus.

Rumors are that an iPod Touch 6th generation will be announced in October together with updated versions of the iPad. However most likely there will only be one size which will be the 4.7 inch and not the 5.5.

I’ve ordered the 6, I checked out a friends HTC which was 5.7" I think and it was just too big for everyday use
