( Yes, this is all tongue-in-cheek… well sort of. )
Is it just me, or has the quality of forums posts/questions seriously declined this year?
I feel like I missed a memo.
Memo - Re: Forums Posts
To: Everyone (except Ed)
From: The Internet
From now on please write all forum posts using your phone or tablet.
Please do not capitalize, punctuate, or (in general) spell your words correctly. L337 is the new ‘Elite’.
In fact, forget about legibility and clarity. Just write a “train of thought” dump and let the readers figure out what you mean.
Don’t worry, its their job to read your mind.
Whatever you do, never read your post after submitting it and then re-edit it to fix issues.
Special Notes:
- If someone helps you by writing a lengthy answer (including code) but they make a typo, be sure to post back a one-liner saying “It didn’t work”. Remember, it is the job of the person who is helping you to tailor the answer to your specific needs.
- If you figure out the problem on your own, do not post the solution, just delete your original post. Future users who encounter this issue should figure the problem out on their own too.
- Be sure to post your code in a code block, but as with your post-body, don’t worry about formatting. Hey, you pasted it into a code block. That should be good enough right?
- Remember, your time is more valuable than the people who you expect to help you (repeatedly) till you get the answer you want. (“I mean…sheesh! Right? If their time is valuable why aren’t they doing something useful with it? Duh.”)
