Ding ding ding... IOS 7 ... Fight!

“Over 1500 new APIs, most substantial update to IOS since iPhone was announced etc etc etc”. Yayy!!!

So what do you all think?

Will we be able to build for IOS 7 come September before mass consumer availability?

Probably. But I expect there to be various holes in the APIs.

I think the one thing that should be really interesting for Corona users is that they announced a game controller API. With any luck iOS7 should obliterate the whole competing controller API market.

Not much of a Corona staff response about iOS7 and Corona support.  I know there is an NDA but at least some kind of a statement on impacts to the short and mid term roadmap??  Is Open GL 2.5, AR etc on hold now?

Yes. It would have been great if we had some insight. No need to bust NDA either. Just take the WWDC keynote and address items announced there wrt the future of Corona SDK. The silence of CL leadership is deafening.

The iOS 7 SDK beta is now an option in the latest daily build.  You will of course need the latest XCode developer preview to run it.  This is the first time I think we’ve gotten the beta sdk out with beta 1.  Usually we wait until it stabilizes a bit.

Like you, WWDC is still kind of fresh and you’ve had access to the Beta for the same amount of time we have.  We have to figure out what all this means.  I’m sure that once the folks get back from E3 and the engineering team has had a chance to look at what all Apple is offering,
