Disappointed in limitations of Corona SDK Basic

I really can’t believe that I’m expected to cough up $49 / month to get access to the 2.5D functionality like display object path manipulation.

That really creates a huge limitation on the kinds of professional looking polish I can give to my games, which in turn I believe limits the potential they have to grow in popularity and thus in profits once published.

Just thought I’d share my opinion, not that it will matter.

Hi @banderberg,

We appreciate your feedback and we understand that this is a feature you’d like to use under the “Basic” or “Starter” plans. However, upgrading to Pro offers a considerable number of additional features besides this one (list below, for reference). As a tier-based structure, we always try to offer the most useful features to all developers, but at the same time, we must carefully consider which are “advanced” features which must be priced into the higher tier levels. “Basic” users generally don’t require 2.5D path manipulation, so this one must be offered to Pro/Enterprise.

Best regards,

Brent

Pro/Enterprise Graphics Features:

Texture mapping in all shapes

Texture-mapped strokes and lines

Texture transform properties (position, rotation, scale)

Multitexturing with composite paints

Snapshots (Render to texture)

Shader effects (filters, generators, and composites)

Multi-pass shaders graphs

Normal mapping

Quadrilateral perspective distortion for 2.5D/3D effects

Canvas-style painting

Porter-Duff blending

Custom blend modes

Blend equation control: add, substract, and reverseSubtract

Camera feed as texture fill

Particle effects (w/ Particle Designer)

LiquidFun physics engine

What? I’m every day surprised what you get for paying NOT A SINGLE BUCK. Even no splash screen or other nagging things.
