Displaying Quicktime thumbnail in webkit

hello,

Have any of you created apps where you use the QT video player in a webkit popup? If so, were you successful in displaying thumbnail images of the video in the player window before playing? (a la YouTube).

If one looks at the QT files we’ve encoded in the Finder, one can see that the OS has created a thumbnail image (viewable in icon view), from some point in time into the video a ways. That’s what we expected to see when we pull the clip into the QT player in the popup. But we just see black, with the little Play icon over the top.

Granted, many of the clips start in video black, so I re-encoded so the first frame is in non-black. Even then, that first frame only shows up in the popup randomly, sometimes the first time I come to it, but then not again.

So, anyone know what might be going on here, and how we might successfully pull in the thumbnail images to display in the player before pressing the Play button?

Thanks!

My apologies carlos… but it didn’t strike me as off-topic. Isn’t this a development issue?

Moved to Off Topic. Because Carlos was too busy (probably being cool, it’s a requirement of the founders I hear,) and important to do it himself  [import]uid: 52491 topic_id: 15731 reply_id: 58161[/import]
