Do I need the latest xcode and iphone sdk build from apple?

Hi,

I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard to start making apps. I’m curious as to whether or not I need to download the latest build of xcode and iphone sdk from Apple’s iphone developer page. I can’t wait to start building apps.

Thanks a ton [import]uid: 7202 topic_id: 5351 reply_id: 305351[/import]

I think so. And anyway they’re free so the only reason not to would be the huge download (seriously, why so big?) [import]uid: 12108 topic_id: 5351 reply_id: 17844[/import]

I’m not sure if you need XCode and the developer SDK, but you *do* need to pay Apple their $100(?) annual fee if you want to get the provisioning necessary to put apps on actual iPhones and iPads.

you will need an apple developers license to move you apps made in corona/lua to your iphone, ipad, itouch. and thats ADL is 100 bucks.

you will need to xcode to find your iOS device and move it to the device once you do a “build” on the device from the Corona Simulator.

YOu will need to get your Apple Certificate to do a revision to you device.

You can use Corona/LUA with an apple device, but you will only be able to test the program from the simulation device.

And BTW, corona(lua) is a totally different language from objective-c.
and xcode is a totally totally different animal from both LUA and objective-C.

apple has precise videos on how to do everything. buying the ADL is worth the 100 bucks.

and Corona/UA is well worth the price. objective-c has a very steep learning curve, but a book that is very clear a concise is the iPhone Headfirst. this book is a serious must for all newbies to programming in objective-c and XCODE. it teaches you the “linkage” between the two, as well as programming in objective-c and how to think in MVC terminology.
