Do Not install iOS 6 beta if you want to still use that device and computer for corona releases

iOS 6 requires a beta version of Xcode that you can not make release builds for iOS 5.x with.

So if you want to keep using your mac and ipad for iOS5 releases do not install the beta because it’s very hard to go back to the old builds. [import]uid: 110373 topic_id: 27425 reply_id: 327425[/import]

Oops… Why can’t Corona use the beta version of Xcode? [import]uid: 144504 topic_id: 27425 reply_id: 111424[/import]

The next build will hopefully resolve any problems.

Aww crap, I don’t have a subscription yet… [import]uid: 144504 topic_id: 27425 reply_id: 111442[/import]

Regardless of Corona’s ability to work with XCode 4.5, Apple specifically forbids releasing apps built with pre-release code. That means you cannot put anything up for sale that has iOS 6.0 features or was built using XCode 4.5 and the newer SDK.

So don’t run out and upgrade your XCode yet.

In my case, I did load iOS 6.0 on my iPhone today so I can at least test my apps there (which is one reason they give you early access to the product … and so you can have new features ready to go come iOS 6.0’s release). I left my iPad at 5.1.1 for now.

It would be nice if Corona would give us the ability to still build for 5.1 while also giving us early access to 6.0 features, but I don’t think that’s going to be practical.

Any update on support for this in the upcoming GM release Walter referred to?

@brad.herman: is that Brad at DW who used to be at DD? [import]uid: 72317 topic_id: 27425 reply_id: 112112[/import]

Xcode fixes should be in 833 which is the candidate for release.

833 was released last Friday but the release notes don’t mention anything about iOS 6. Can you confirm that the fixes are in that release from last Friday?

Thx! [import]uid: 72317 topic_id: 27425 reply_id: 112261[/import]

Because the problems we fixed are related to Xcode, not necessarily iOS 6. [import]uid: 7563 topic_id: 27425 reply_id: 112390[/import]

This might be needless info, but if you want to use the iOS 6 beta on your device, but not install the Xcode/iOS SDK beta on your development computer, you can still test Corona builds on your beta-running device by installing the binary through iTunes instead of Xcode.

Maybe I’m the only one, but since the stable version of Xcode can’t load apps onto devices running the beta, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to test my active projects on my device running the iOS6 beta without installing the Xcode beta also - which could have caused problems if I tried to build for distribution using the Xcode beta. This seems to give me the best of both worlds. Just thought I’d share. [import]uid: 27636 topic_id: 27425 reply_id: 113133[/import]
