does Corona support the Google Play Licensing Service? (else what alternative that protects against copying)

Does Corona support the Google Play Licensing Service? (noting their former copy protection service is going to be deprecated)

http://developer.android.com/guide/google/play/licensing/adding-licensing.html

If not, which Android distribution sites (e.g.Appia, Slideme, other??) have a security approach that Corona supports (i.e. works with Corona builds) that would prevent users from copy/sending the app to others directly?

PS. I note slideme.org require use of their “slidelock” product for security, as documented here http://slideme.org/slidelock . So can I ask if Corona supports this (i.e. is it possible to follow the slidelock steps to build an app with Corona and have it successfully deployed?) So in summary then:

Q1 - Can a Corona app be developed/deployed on Google Play to use their Licensing Service? If yes, are their any special Corona focused instructions one needs to be aware of?

Q2 - Can a Corona app be developed/deployed on SlideMe to use their SlideLock security? If yes, are their any special Corona focused instructions one needs to be aware of?

Q3 - If the answers to both are YES, then can you build a single android app with Corona that can incorporate support for both? or would it need to be two separate/tweeked builds?

Q4 - If the answer to Q1 & Q2 is no, then what distribution site exists that would allow one to deploy a paid Android app without the risk of it being copied & distributed around for free?

Greg - the answer to both Q1 and 2 is no. We have not implemented this for Google Play in Corona and have not implemented similar functionality for other stores since they have less traction and are less relevant for our developers. We have the Google Play option in our roadmap, but no estimated date at this point.

To tell you the truth, things like this (intended to avoid pirating) are important and have their place, but we have found that there is little you will be able to do to deter determined pirates, so this has not been a priority.

If you can give us a bit more information on why you want to implement this, it would help us prioritize.

One note: if this is very important for you, you could integrate it into your app using Corona Enterprise.

Thanks,

thanks David - I guess I just had the perception that Apple solution is sound, and was looking for an Android distribution site (e.g. google play, Slideme etc) that matched this. If there’s no supported Android distribution site with the full security with Corona current then that’s no big deal for me, I’ll just go with Google Play, but I just wanted to double check first.

By the way, is my perception correct that from a piracy point of view Apple distribution approach (which signing/keys etc) would be a notch above that of Google Play (without the use of their licensing service)?

Greg - you are probably right that there is less funny stuff going on with Apple than with Google Play. But it is definitely still happening. So this just points to the fact that it is very hard to get rid of this, and any determined hacker will end up breaking stuff anyway…

Let us know if you have any more questions.
