Does Google Licensing feature only work on Google Play uploaded apps?

Hi, folks.

I think is an obviously question, but I had to ensure that before publishing my app to stores like Samsung Apps, Opera Mobile Store etc.

So, does Google Licensing feature only work on Google Play uploaded apps?

“Google Play Licensing is designed to let you apply license controls to applications that you publish through Google Play. The service is not designed to let you control access to applications that are not published through Google Play or that are run on devices that do not offer the Google Play client.”

As an FYI, Amazon will add their own DRM to your app when you upload to the Amazon Appstore, unless you specify them not to.
