Doesn't work with Dropbox, I need the older version meantime please!!!

Hello! I use Dropbox to store all my files. Worked fine till this update, now when I click on a directory that exists out on Dropbox, I get an error message. It worked fine on the previous version (I actually think TWO versions back it worked…or did I try the beta? Don’t remember)

But it’s super inconvenient now for me. Can I get a link to the older version to try out in the meantime? I’d appreciate it!

Still love your product!

Best,
Mario

Oh PS Windows 7, Version 2.3.0 (3) of CPM! [import]uid: 11636 topic_id: 11467 reply_id: 311467[/import]

Here’s a link to the previous Windows version:

I didn’t specifically do anything to make it break in Dropbox – if I can spot what the problem is I’ll fix it in the next version (unless it has to be changed to fix something else).

Hi

I too use Dropbox ( my app is there) and I do not have any issue accessing my files there. I also use Dropbox to move the .apk to test on my droid. No change for me with 2.3 other that 2.3 seems more stable.

Hope you figure out your issue.

Mo

Everything’s cool with the older version now!

@temsim Don’t know what to tell you about why it fails for me and not you, even though we both use dropbox. Maybe a windows 7 64 bit dropbox issue?? Hmmm

No problem. I am just glad you got back your files.

Good luck on your app.

mrroberti - You can have both versions of CPM on your machine, just don’t run them at the same time (they’ll both be trying to access the same database).

You might want to try deleting the Dropbox-based project in CPM 2.3 and then dragging that folder back in to create a new project. Not sure if that will make any difference, just trying to figure out something.

I’m using Win7 and it works, but I don’t think I’m using 64bit – maybe that’s the “problem.”

Ps - lemsim said, “…seems more stable.” Glad to hear that from someone who isn’t me. [import]uid: 9440 topic_id: 11467 reply_id: 41797[/import]

@J.A. Still no dice. Installed over my older version the newer version, nuked ALL projects just for fun (no big, I only had a few, simple to replicate the setup in CPM) recreated the project and SPLAT. Same error (well, no error, a crash and the bug reporter asking for info)

Curious, it’s ONLY when I click on a DIRECTORY out in my project folder, which lives in Dropbox…

So file structure, Dropbox\MyProject\

Then I drag a folder from elsewhere in Dropbox into my CPM project and it crashes when I click on the freshly dragged directory. :frowning:

Well, you haven’t introduced anything I can’t live without in the latest CPM, I still use “e Text Editor” as my editor, but I DO love the ease of use with the aliasing files and folders that CPM provides.

So you’re on notice pal, DONT introduce anything new and awesome that I can’t live without in any later versions.

Thanks for the help guys, we’ll see if it gets ironed out down the road.
PS Do you see any of my previous crash reports I fired off to you? Do those actually provide any useful data? Just curious! [import]uid: 11636 topic_id: 11467 reply_id: 41803[/import]

I do look at all bug reports that come in. Sometimes I see it’s from something that will be fixed in the next version, there are a few things that seem to happen once and then never again, etc., so I don’t always respond to them.

If you still have v3 installed can you click the Send To Jay button on the bug reporter? Maybe I can spot something that will help.

If you have already sent in crash reports from that bug, tell me who you are so I can track them (if they’re not sent from mroberti) – if you don’t want to disclose a name or email in public, send it to me at j@jawhye.com.

Thanks.

Okay, I just found them, and they’re blank. :frowning:

Very odd.

If I can figure out how to duplicate that I’ll take a shot at fixing it. Until then I just won’t add any really good features so you don’t have to feel bad about not updating.

Ha ha!! No worries. I think that CPM is the best 3rd party tool I’ve paid money for hands down, so I’ll stick around! [import]uid: 11636 topic_id: 11467 reply_id: 41844[/import]

I use DropBox too and it the latest CPM still work well for me but I’m on a Mac. [import]uid: 11904 topic_id: 11467 reply_id: 42336[/import]

Yeah just updated to the latest version and it still fails with the original error I posted above. It’s on two separate machines I tested, both are windows 7 64 bit so now you know what the criteria are for this bug.

Back to 2.22 for me! [import]uid: 11636 topic_id: 11467 reply_id: 43075[/import]

For anyone following this, it appears to be a problem only with Windows 7 64-bit, but only when the Preview pane is in front. Click Terminal, or a code tab in front, and then the crash doesn’t happen.

Windows 7 32-bit (which is what most people have) seems fine. I’ll be looking at beefing up the Preview code in an upcoming version to try and fix that problem.
