Dual Mode Retina version App now in the iTunes store

I can report that after spending YET ANOTHER $550 to buy the latest iPad 3 Retina version and spending 2 weeks refitting my App to work with both iPad screen sizes, iTunes accepted my App with no problems, first try. It did take 10 days as they are no doubt overwhelmed with 100,000 (?) developers re-fitting their Apps all at once.

As I am an active Apple iOS Developer, paying a fee to Apple and getting paid royalties by Apple, I should have been given a chance to acquire the new iPad BEFORE it launched. This would have solved so many headaches as Customers were pissed at me and at Apple for selling them an iPad that didn’t work with iPad Apps!

Worse yet, I and iTunes saw sales go from 100 units a week down to a measly 10 units a week, while the App was listed as non-Retina compatible. A 90% drop in sales was avoidable with the new device in hand BEFORE release.

At present, making my Corona App sense its Width to determine which device, scaling every visual item as needed, providing standard and Retina mode images & splash pages, was accepted with no grief by iTunes. Maybe now we can all get paid.

Where I may see this list of Retina compatible apps? I don’t found anything concerning non-Retina compatibility in iTunes.

Re: “I don’t found anything concerning non-Retina compatibility in iTunes.”

Thats because there isnt any attribute or property iTunes keeps for device compatibility for iPads regarding screen size. They consider all iPads the same. So Customers bought Apps formatted specifically for iPad 1024x768 pixels only to be horrified that these Apps show only in the top left corner of the iPad 3.

When I started getting the complaints from iPad 3 users who could not understand why my iPad software doesnt work on their expensive new toy, I updated my Product Description to state it was not yet Retina Display compatible. Still, thats not enough as customers just see iPad and dont really read the details.

All iPad Apps now need to be Dual Mode, not an iTunes rule, but a Customer Service feature.
