Emboss Filter turns transparent space on .PNG - is it a bug?

I have a .PNG image that has transparent areas, once I apply the emboss filter, it turns all that transparent space into white. Is this correct? Shouldn’t it be leaving the transparent space along.

Attached are the before and after pictures. There is a yellow background jpg behind a PNG image of a white letter A, so you can see the transparency and what happened to it.

Can you put together a simple test case that shows this.  Make sure to include the build.settings and config.lua that you are using and file this as a bug report?

That way the engineers can generate a work ticket from it.

Thanks

Rob

There also appears to be a similar bug associated with the sepia filter.  When you apply Sepia to a transparent PNG image - the image and transparent area (or background behind the tranparent region) is painted a sepia tone.

(Attached file shows example)

I am assuming that you are supposed to ignore the transparent area of a png file with the sepia filter.  The desaturate filter acts this way but the sepia filter does not.  I would think they should behave identically.

We are working with Corona build 2179.

Thanks!

Guys - just want to let you know that I re-tested emboss, sepia, and brightness filter on the latest 2014.2272 build and the issue is fixed!

Thanks to the Corona team!

mmm… just tested further and noticed that the liner and radial gradients filters are still not respecting transparencies.

@Rob should I go ahead and file a bug on that?

Thx!

Andrew

Please file a bug report with a test project showing the problem.

Thanks,

Tom

Just submitted. Case 32263.
