Error installing corona

Hi

So I am brand new to Corona. Ive only come across it today and I am having trouble installing it.

I am downloading the free version to take a look just exactly what is corona and how easy it is it use.

I am using a Macbook Pro, 2011 model, running Yosemite.

Corona installs into the applications folder but when I go to open Corona Simulator I get an error message displaying. “A fatal error has occurred”

Does somebody what is going wrong here and could help me out ?

Thank you

Hi @daleoshea,

This shouldn’t be a hardware issue, but can you please confirm that your system meets the following specs?

Hi Brent

I have just checked the requirements and everything seems to be ok.

Im running Yosemite 10.10.2, with 4GB of RAM.

Hi @daleoshea,

Which version of Corona did you download? This one?

https://developer.coronalabs.com/downloads/coronasdk

Hi Brent,

Yes thats the exact one I downloaded.

Is there any other details from the error report other than what you typed above?

It has a heading saying “Could not launch Corona Simulator” and then text underneath “A fatal error has occurred” with only the option to click ok.

That error is caused either by a modification to the Corona Simulator .app bundle or by trying to run a recent build of Corona SDK on an older version of OS X (which you don’t appear to be doing).

If you right-click (or control-click) on the Corona Simulator icon and choose “Get Info” what does it say next to “Modified:” and “Version:”?  You can Copy&Paste out of that window.

One quick thing to try is just to redownload from the link above but it’s almost impossible to get a “bad download” these days so it’s not likely to help.

ok so next to Modified it says Monday 12 March 2012 22:23

and for version: 2011.704

There’s the problem

You want version 2014.2511 which you can get from https://developer.coronalabs.com/downloads/coronasdk

That version is working. Thank you for your help
