How can I create and define the objects in a scene, level, etc. that is larger than the iPhone screen?
I’m cool with Lua, but I’m missing a concept. As an ex GS user, I’m used to being able to set my scene size to, say 1024*2048 pixels. If I want to create a large level in Corona, is there some way I can define the location of my track or objects off screen to be viewed later when the user navigates there?

Hey Carlos, I’m going to work on my first project this weekend. I have a day job that kicks my aars during the week and have no energy afterwords. Anyway,The first issue I have is about playing a full frame animation. I’m re-doing a simple app I did in GS. It’s called WhaleTunes. It has a 300 frame animation that Loops. Currently its 480x320. I would like to up-res to iPad format. So my question is how? Will a sprite sheet handle this? or another option. Thanks for the help!!

Will keep on using GS until my sub expires…in the mean time, I’ll try to keep up with y’all.
I’ve seen the samples section, but not much related to the samples we used to have in GS.
Perhaps we should start our own?!
I have a couple of questions, maybe someone could post a link to samples or other posts (sorry still noob, figured I asked first before spending hours looking):
* Repeating background (like clouds)
* timers?
* spawning in random location
* spawning random ‘actors’
* how to get ‘actor’ off screen and auto destroy
* on collide destroy or trigger other event
* drag and drop
* move left/right up/down (w/o d-pad, but just plain ‘buttons’)
* particles
* follow finger (tap and have ‘actor’ move to where you touched)
* test on device or only in simulator?
* save/load
* post to twitter, facebook & openfeint
I think for the moment that’ll do

Welcome I thought of doing the same but here’s my thoughts
If you make a game with gs then your sub expires then you can not update the app without recharging ppl for the update
Plus the time you spend on gs your not learning here
Right now you could sell your sub to someone pocket that money then once gs direct is released you can still make games if you wanted for free

I only have about a month left for my sub to expire, so I can’t sell.
I’m just trying to finish the game I had pending and releasing it, then, renew my Apple sub and for next year, try to have all my ducks in a row with Corona and update them with online leaderboards and such.
You mentioned all can be done with corona and I do believe that…but is there a central location to download samples w/o scavenging the entire forums? if not, is cool, I can search.

Only problem is when you update with leader boards will your customer be willing to pay again for the update
I have four games right at completion with gs but I stopped completely so my customer would only pay once
