Excellent cheap Android device

Just thought I would share my cheap test device

£57.34 … or $88.99
It has arrived today and …wow!!!
It is faster than my motorola xoom and runs apps no problem whatsoever.

Its resistive screen and not capacitive, but its still very reactive (obviously wont be on multi-touch), and doesn’t yet have android market but I am sure some fiddling will fix this.

I wanted a cheap test device for the apps that I am writing and its “More than mission accomplisehed”

I cannot recommend this enough.
I only bought it while this one was out of stock

I will get this when chinese new year is over and re-shipping mid Feb. I will then have a tablet and a small android test device for half the price of my xoom!

I think its bye bye xoom as I only use android devices for testing. [import]uid: 103163 topic_id: 20703 reply_id: 320703[/import]

Looks over priced

I use a Motorola triumph I scored at half price from virgin mobile… $120 cyber Monday deal.

Works well, and I have not had to activate it.

While I wait for Apple to review my iPad app, I’m eyeing up Android tablets.
Theres lots of talk here about ARMv6 and ARMv7 but Im finding it hard to find out what each device is using.
There is a cheap tablet available using a IMAPX210 processor.
That seems to be ARM11… no-one mentions that here.
I’m confused.

Here is an ebay link:

So:
I need a 7inch or larger, Android tablet, which will run Corona Apps.
Any suggestions?

I can see that I can create debug apps on my mac even though I have just the indie Mac version, so I should be able to test.

Next:
Why would I use Amazon AppStore to sell through ? (Only available in USA it seems…)
I ask because it looks as if I could just ship an APK file to customers.
Is that right?

These two links will help answer your question I think. In fact the 2nd link definitely will.

Hmmm.

Local PC World has a Blackberry Playbook at £169 Cortex A9
But It looks like it doesn’t do Android.

Archos Arnova A8 Android 2.3 7inch: £99
Anyone here using one?

I got a Motorola Defy last year for testing. Not too bad! [import]uid: 10389 topic_id: 20703 reply_id: 83444[/import]

The Playbook will be able to play some Android games once the 2.0 firmware is released. Supposed February 2012 now. We’ll see as it was expected to come out last year.

Will be interesting to see if Corona apps work in that Android wrapper that RIM has for the Playbook. [import]uid: 17827 topic_id: 20703 reply_id: 83462[/import]

RIM offers an android validation tool to see if apks will run - and the answer I got for one of my oorona apps was no…

If I remember correctly - it complained about com.ansca.something-or-other…

Just a note to follow this up.
I tok a chance on a 7 inch tablet from eBay
Very definitely a ‘cheap far east’ job, but I compiled a test drive android version of my app and dragged it to the device.
So 15 minutes after it arrived I was able to know that the app works.
Its slow, but Angry birds proves it doesn’t have to be blistering to do simple games and browse the net.

This cost 89 pounds. I won’t identify the seller, but there will be a choice.
