Expansion file google play issue on first upload

Hi,

I wanted to let you know about a little issue I had when I used expansion files on google play.

First I uploaded a dummy (or draft) app, because you first need to have a placeholder app before you can upload your app with expansions.

Once I did this, I uploaded the app again, this time being able to specify an expansion pack. It seemed to have uploaded fine, and I tried publishing the app, but I had a very annoying issue.

Since I didn’t update my version code, and version name, the expansion file never got included.

What happened when I tested it was I got a error message that simply said “licensed”. But obviously, it failed to download the expansion file.

I went back and built my app again, and I updated my version code, and my version name and re-uploaded it in the alpha section of google play and now I can see the difference. My application now has the correct size including the expansion file, and when I check the apk details, it clearly lists the expansion file.

So the whole uploading of a dummy application can still trip up a noob like me, because we have to go back and build it again with a higher version code. Anyone have a better way to get around this limitation?

I attached a picture, make sure you can see your expansion file when looking at the apk details.

Hope this helps a fellow corona developer,

Alex

Great help  I did the same thing, reuploaded the same ap version and added the expansion file but when trying to install there was no expansion file. Now uploaded a new api with a higher version number and it does now correctly show the expansion file. So will await to see if it can install properly later on. Google’s testing system is truly horrible as is their documentation. This info is definitely something corona should put in their documentation.
