Experience with .. or opinion on the best 'rewards' monetization plugin

I am assuming that most of the many monetization services added by Corona recently are all likely plugins, but plugins or otherwise I was hoping to make a decision on which one I would use.  One particular app I have will work best using ‘reward-videos’ where the player is rewarded for actually watching the video.

I think most of the reward-type ad services are :

Applovin

Appodeal

Chartboost

TrialPay

PeanutLabs(surveys)

Vungle(does video ads, not sure if they do rewards)

I am not sure what others do rewards to the player, but these seem the most ‘popular’ from what I have read on the forums.

So if anyone has any experience(results) using any of the reward type ads it would be helpful for any developers to hear which have good results and/or what seems easiest to implement.

Thanks in advance for any input .

Bob

Mediabrix has had a strong ecpm for us, but they only have fill in the US (I believe) so you’d need to have another network in your app as a fallback:

Alan,

Thanks for the input.  I will look at that media brix.

Hi guys,

I would like to add more information about ad networks which support rewarded video type : Applovin, Unity Ads, Vungle, Adcolony, Chartboost, Mopub, Startapp, Tapjoy  -> those are the biggest ones.

I would recommend to use a few ad networks at least because they have different campaigns for different users and if choosing correctly you can benefit in revenue increase. Mediators are a good option for developers too because they allow to manage relationship between all those ad networks.

In Appodeal SDK all listed above are included (and a lot of of other top demand partners) into one single SDK so just 1 integration is needed. So time is saved on coding and revenue is boosted automatically through our intelligent mediation :)

Thanks Diana!

Good to know.  I was a little unsure on having 2 or more different ad APIs running in my app… guessing it could cause a crash or just be tricky to implement 2 or more of them…  so Appodeal (as a mediator) will handle that for me…  that seems smart.  But I assume I will have to pay more to them then if I implemented 2 or more of them myself, correct?

I will look into Appodeal.

Thanks

Hello Bob,

I didn’t understand your question about paying to ad networks.

If we are speaking about will ad networks pay more to you then yes. You will get paid more through Appodeal comparing to what you’ve received before because Appodeal also optimizes your traffic. And as I’ve mentioned above: gives access to more ad networks. The ultimate result is always the same: your revenue increase.

Feel free to PM any time if you have question about using our monetization platform

I think that what cyberparkstudios meant by “I assume I will have to pay more to them then if I implemented 2 or more of them myself” is:

I assume Appodeal will take a percentage of the ad revenue for performing this service, whereas this wouldn’t be the case if I implemented multiple libraries myself”.

I know some mediators don’t take a % of your ad revenue from the various ad networks, but instead have their own ads which will be shown occasionally as well, and that’s how they monetise. Either way, if Appodeal’s mediation structure is sound then I’m sure you’d make more money using that than you would by implementing multiple libraries yourself and juggling which order to show them in based on previous earnings

It’s certainly a lot easier when you don’t have to manage multiple ad network APIs yourself.

Diana,

Alan is correct, I was wondering what percentage appodeal will take on top of what the ad service will take.  But, Alan also makes a good point, that it still likely that using a mediation service (like appodeal) might just be better for the reasons he mentioned.

Thanks to both of you for your input.

Bob

Hello Alan and Bob,

I have got it now  Thank you for clarification. Let me please fill in blank space about how we make money.

Appodeal doesn’t have an internal marketplace where we earn so we are unbiased towards traffic optimization. And if we don’t have internal marketplace it means we won’t push our own ads regardless of the ecpm.

Appodeal makes money in the following way: we add value to your impressions and our margin is dynamically calculated per each impressions and there is a flat fee between 0-10% of your total revenue.

It’s super easy to test which monetization is better: you can use Google Staged Rollout and make an A/B test with 50/5o equal random distribution and just compare the results.

I don’t know if I can publish my email here but it’s diana@appodeal.com in case you’d like to try Appodeal integration. Will be glad to support you :)

Diana,

Thanks for the info.  Yes I am leaning toward appodeal… I will likely email you soon.

Thanks
