Extremely Weird Bug

I’ve just booted up my laptop and Glider is being very bizarre.

It won’t let me click/interact with any of the windows, I can’t click a button, enter/type in a file, select a file from the Project listing, etc… basically do anything.

The only thing I can do is select the menus, from which I was able to build - but I cant do anything else.

Think it’s going to be a case of uninstalling???

Many thanks,

All fixed - had to uninstall, clear up usr directory and re-install. Didn’t help that my original installer appeared to be outdated.

Very weird situation though, couldn’t interact with the IDE apart from top row menus - however the environment was responding: icons shadowed when hovered over them, window controls (close, maximise, etc…) worked and tabbing into search bar and entering text via keyboard all functioned.

Not entirely sure why it happened or even how it was fixed - but it seems the nuke option did it.

Hello SegaBoy,

Thanks for your detailed description.

Did this problem occur on a Mac or a windows machine? Next time this happens please send the logs before clearing the user-directory.  How long have you been using Glider before this cropped up? Were you using the standard look and feel or a customized theme?

I worked out the culprit after stupidly repeating the same process I inadvertently did earlier. It seems to be whenever I install a Remote Sharing piece of equipment called ZDisplay on iPad, which requires Splashtop Streamer Mac.

After I got Glider back into action I installed Splashtop again (uninstalled both), and the same thing happens - Glider just becomes inoperable; it’s there and working, I just couldn’t interact bar the top level menus.

I’m guessing Splashsoft causes a conflict of some sorts, I believe it’s based on JRE.

Hello Segaboy,

That is very bizarre indeed.

So just to clarify here are your steps to replicate the problem:

  1. install Lua Glider

  2. Open glider, it should work fine

  3. install splashtop streamer v2.3.5.2

  4. Open Glider and expect menu to be all messed up.

Is this on Lion or mountain lion?

That’s the process - although I have noticed that the installer I tried using is v.2.3.0.8 - not sure how I got that version when it just came from the official site: http://www.splashtop.com/streamer/downloadstart?platform=Mac

It’s on Mountain Lion.

I’m a little worried about trying the Splashtop version you mentioned - even though I know the process to clear everything up, it’s a real pain in the arse

P.S You don’t even need to re-open Glider - if it’s running and you install Splashtop, switch back to Glider and everything is FUBAR.

Hello SegaBoy,

We just tried it on Mountain lion and the problem does not seem to happen to us unfortunately. Could you try installing the standard netbeans IDE to see if it is a Glider related issue or a Netbeans bug. Please also send a screenshot with the problem.
