Facebook - No Reponse From Event

Hi All,

I’m unable to retrieve any event information with facebook.request, does anyone have any clue?

I tested on IOS and gets redirected to facebook for permission approval, and returns to my app no problem.  The issue is I have textfields setup to test and track on ‘event.type, event.phase, event.token’, and none of those return, does anyone know what the reason may be?

I am using build 2013.1053

Thanks in advance!

B

Have you tried using the Facebook sample app shipped with build 1053? It displays all the event information in the Xcode console. I verified that everything was still working yesterday with our sample and the new Network code.

Hi Tom,

I’ve tried using the facebook sample app within the build. I was able to post a couple of messages with it, but other times it fails to post and I’m not sure why.

Could my settings be wrong?

1.) from facebook side, I currently have Native iOS App checked, with Bundle ID filled, and Facebook Login enabled.  I’ve left the ‘iphoneApp Store ID’ blank as I’ve read somewhere it’s fine as long as I have the App ID from FB.

2.) on build.settings, people mentioned a -  FacebookAppID = “XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX” - needs to be added, is that true?

not sure if i’ve played around with my FB account too much by authorizing and deleting the app, not even the facebook sample app seem to work now.

Thanks

B

Forgot to mention, after being redirected to FB and hit ‘Allow All’, I got redirected to my app but with a FB log in screen.  After having my login details filled and hit the login button, the screen says:

Already Authorized

You have already authorized … Press “Okay” to continue.

but my problem is, the ‘Okay’ button doesn’t do anything no matter how many times I press, any ideas guesses would be appreciated.

Thanks again
B

Yes, #2 needs to be in your build.settings file if you are using build 1028 and higher.

Thanks Tom for confirming, anything to narrow down my doubts helps

I also figured out it was more of the FB appID issue, seems like if you mess the codes one time with connection to FB, it pretty much messes it up for you thereafter.  So I created a new FB app to test, and it works now.

Just one more question on this thread, do you know if there’s a cap to the number of FB posting session/request you can make within a certain time interval?  I notice it usually fails if I try to make a FB posting right after one is done, is that a known issue?

Thanks
B

I haven’t seen a limit on how fast you an send one message after another, but I know Facebook limits the number of posts in a certain time frame (per hour?). You will notice the FB sample app appends a timestamp at the end of the message. That’s because Facebook was ignoring identical posts.

I believe I’ve seen information on the FB developer pages talking about posting limits.

Thanks Tom, that information is really helpful.  I noticed about the time stamp but I didn’t know it has to do with Facebook ignoring identical posts.  I’ll research and go through the FB developer page for more details.

Thanks
