Facebook working on my phone but not on anyone else's?

Hi All,

I’ve got my first app published and on the app store! Pretty excited about this (search ‘Thirsty Dwarf!’ if you’re interested to see it).

I have facebook integrated so that any time a player advances to a level they haven’t made it to before, they have the option of sharing their accomplishment on their facebook timeline.

This has been working fine for me on my phone but the handful of other people I’ve had test this with the released app have not been able to post (there’s an error related to not being able to post because the developer has not set up their app correctly - I don’t have a screen shot on hand at the moment but this is the gist of it).

Does anybody have any thoughts about what could be happening? It strikes me as odd that facebook was working with my test builds and now with the published build on my iPhone but that it’s not working for the handful of friends devices I’ve tested with.

Thanks!

I tried to get to the facebook posting but I can’t steer my dwarf very well to get to the end.  How do you get him to change directions?  I was going to look at the console log and see if there are any errors for you.

Rob

Hi Rob,

I appreciate you taking a look!

Swipe left or right to move left or right, swipe upwards to jump and tap to shoot.

Pick up at least 10 bottles to advance to the next level. If you do that, you’ll have the option to post to Facebook.

I hadn’t realized a person could view the console for other apps! Very neat.

Thanks for any insight you can share!

Yea, unless you take steps to turn off your print statements, they will show if the user can plug in their phone.  Of course they have to be a developer, have Xcode installed, have their device enabled for development etc.

I still can’t beat level one, so I don’t think I can look for you.

Ha! OK, the challenge may be too hard right off the bat. I had been considering that I might need to ease the ramping on that. Although I am kind of going for that miserably hard thing that seems to be so popular these days…

I appreciate the consideration as well as the info regarding print statements (good thing mine aren’t saying anything too crazy!). I’m actually pretty interested to see if any other apps print out random developer info.

Thank you for your time on this

lol… *smacks palm to forehead*…

I hadn’t realized that under the “status and review” section of the facebook developers page for my app that the app was set for “no” for the question:

Do you want to make this app and all its live features available to the general public?

I have now set that to “yes”. I have yet to test it on another device but clearly this must be the solution?

Wow… more than a little embarrassed that I missed that but hopefully this thread might help someone else some day?

Thanks again Rob for your help on this one. I love developing on my own but it’s time like this where the team support aspect makes a real difference.

Glad you solved it…

Rob

I have the same issue, but I did published the app. The share goes without issue for me and I see my post in the wall but when I do from other person fb account it doesn’t show up.

thats the app.

I downloaded it and the first time I just got a black-grey gradient screen when it tried to login to FB.  The next time, It asked for permissions like three times, but it did end up posting to my wall.  So it seems to be working.
