Feather, now available on the App Stores!

I’m proud to announce that my new game  Feather is now available on the iOS App Store and Google Play Store.

With all the Flappy Bird clones out there, I didn’t want to contribute to the same flood of pixelated 8-bit graphics and identical, monotonous gameplay.

Feather has the familiar simple-yet-frustratingly-addictive gameplay, but shakes it up with a fresh take on the genre, with increasing difficulty, power-ups, beautiful HD and Retina graphics and smooth animation, backed by a delightful soundtrack.  Grab achievements and share your high scores on iOS Game Center or Google Play Game Services, and over Twitter and Facebook.  Unlock the game to remove ads and access an additional game mode.

Designed solely with Corona SDK Pro, Feather was primarily coded in one weekend and with Corona’s simple implementations and plug-ins, it was easy to incorporate universal binaries, banner ads, in-App Purchasing, social media, and social gaming functions for both iOS and Android devices.

nice

only issue I see is the white text is hard to see. other then that nicely done

one more thing. maybe move the rate button to the bottom of the menu. most ppl will be playing with one hand which means they will be tapping at the bottom and when they die they will still be tapping and hit the rate button which will help move app up in charts

All great ideas, thanks jstrahan.  I’ve submitted 1.2.6 to the App Store that includes Spanish localization, a contrast toggle button (Graphics 2.0 makes it easy to change the .blendMode from “normal” to “dstOut.” and I’ve swapped the locations of the Rate and Share buttons. Also, it looks like the native.showPopup( “rateApp” ) feature doesn’t work, as it still leaves the app entirely, and not do the pop-ups anymore to rate from within the app.  Looking at the Corona documentation, it looks like that capability stopped back in iOS 5 or 6.

Funny how blendMode don’t seem to affect the screen capture.  The text is all black and when I do a screenshot to post to Twitter/Facebook, it’s still the original white.  Perhaps submit to Corona as a bug?

not sure if it’s a bug or the way you meant for it to be but when you press play the feather bounces until you tap the screen for the first time but when you press play again the feather doesn’t bounce it just starts falling.

During the instructions, I give the player the opportunity to read it and automatically bounce the feather. When you’ve successfully read the instructions, you’re on your own.

gotcha

Very nice looking game and fun to play.    Only nits are the white text is hard to read at game over, and the ad at the top hides balloons.   I know, I know, upgrade to the ad-free version
