First app is approved but need to increase play value

Hi,
I was struggling on game artwork for several weeks. I My first shoot airplanes game has been rejected 20 days ago and then approved after I reworked all arts, and has 20 downloads so far in the first week! It is a BIG SHOT in my first month of corona subscription. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/big-shoot/id538422716?ls=1&mt=8. Thank you guys very much! Rob, Seaboy, Peach, and other guys gave wonderful suggestions.

I was struggling on game artwork for several weeks for my first corona game. Apple resolution center commented it was poor graphic quality and play value for rejection reasons. So I rework all arts, and add a timer limitation for this game to increase play value.
Bad thing: I have spent about 15-20 hours to browser internet for creative common art, royalty free or free arts, then I edited them, but the quality after edit is still very poor either because I am new to edit or the original downloaded art is not in high resolution/pixel.

Good things: I spent 5-7 hours coding on this game. It did not take much time.

After reading an article from this forum, specifically a 48 hours competition, it seems someone(Mike) can make game art easily in the first few hours, like sketch, scan, coloring, sizing, etc.

In my experience, the game art takes 4 times effort than coding in my first game; maybe I should try to sketch myself instead of browsing internet because of searching a good quality art takes times.

Can anyone have suggestion on increasing the play value and better graphic quality? I can list a few:
Level select, reward stars, score, time.

Thanks!

Custom font would be a good idea, that one doesn’t really fit the style, IMHO. [import]uid: 52491 topic_id: 29130 reply_id: 117309[/import]
