Hi,

I updated my ipad to ios5 and poked around in the code, cutting sections out until it stopped crashing.
As far as I can tell, loading all 6 samples at once was causing the hangups.

Funny that ios5 should crash and not os4. I could be totally wrong in my diagnosis, hard to think straight after 7 solid hours of cut/paste

All is good now! Binary submitted :slight_smile:

I recently released my ipad app (wine glass hd) and have had numerous complaints that it is freezing
and simply not launching.

It works great on the 2 ipads Iā€™ve tried and in the simulator. This is very frustrating as I feel itā€™s not under my control.

The app is free for the weekend.

I downloaded your app. I must say that it is a very nice idea!!!

Unfortunately I can report to you that it also crashes on my ipad 2 w. ios 5.0.
I am able to play with the first 6 glasses when the app starts, but as soon as i press the keys at the bottom of the screen or the ā€œwine menuā€ it freezesā€¦ and I have to force close the app in ios dock to be able to start it up again.

Another thing is your app is locked to the wrong landscape orientation for ipad 2ā€¦ flip the orientation to landscape left.

Iā€™ll address the orientation issue and hopefully ansca can chime in on the crash report.

Hi Alex,

I just downloaded your app and canā€™t get past the first screen. I canā€™t get anything to happen no matter what I do. Iā€™m on an iPad 2.

On one attempt to reopen it I got nothing but a black screen.

Iā€™m sorry to see this happen to you. I havenā€™t released any apps yet so Iā€™ll be watching close to see what you find so we can all learn from it.

These crash reports are very cryptic to me too, but sometimes I get some clues by go0lge searching with them.

So the crash log here has ā€œWineGlass failed to resume in timeā€ which means Appleā€™s watch dog process killed the process because it wasnā€™t responsive.

The top of the stack shows that we are inside Appleā€™s OpenAL implementation. Iā€™m not sure where exactly. I need to know the exact Corona version number you used to build it.

Everybody should be aware (if not already), that there are serious bugs in Appleā€™s OpenAL in iOS 5.0. We spent several months trying to work around them. I thought we finally worked around them well enough to avoid the serious crashes, freezes, and killed audio the bug(s) were causing, but they are ultimately just work arounds. We have been telling you developers to file Apple bug reports immediately on all regression problems like these (particularly if you are running the latest iOS beta so Apple has a chance to fix the problem before shipping, otherwise we are stuck with messes like iOS 5.0 which was sadly entirely avoidable if just one our users had reported the bug when they first found it in iOS 5 beta 4). It might be your bug is related to this, though we really need a reproducible test case to find out. If you can submit a bug report with us including code/resources that can reproduce the problem, we can look at it further.

Iā€™m using Version 2011.704 (2011.12.8).

I will submit a bug report complete with the code/resources.
I donā€™t have access to my ipad right now but will upgrade to iOS 5 (yikes) and find out.

Since there seems to be a regression between iOS 4.3 and 5.0, you need to file an Apple bug and let them know this exists so they can fix it.

Also, now that the 5.1 betas are out, you should test on 5.1 to see if the problem has been fixed, stayed the same, or if new bugs are introduced. If the latter cases, report them to Apple as well.

Everybody, I just committed another change for the iOS 5 bug. I think it will fix Wine Glass HDā€™s problem.

Everybody should retest with the latest build (726) and verify that their apps donā€™t break. See the commit logs for more details.

Our workarounds are very complicated and fragile. If any more problems are discovered, I donā€™t know if we will be able to do anything more. Once Apple fixes the problem, it will be best to encourage users to upgrade their iOS as soon as possible.
