Forum Upload limit

For some time now, I can only upload 8.75kb to a post in the forum.

Does anyone knows how can I have my allowance back? Several times I want to attach some screenshots and now I can’t.

I started a similar thread about the overall attachment quota a while back. It seems that there is a hard limit for some reason. I have operated many forum s/w and this limit was almost always an admin set limit which was very easy to increase. The only conclusion I can draw is that CL does not want us to post stuff with attachments in them.

That is not the case @ksan.  It’s a limit imposed by the software we use and we are working to see if we can get it increased.

Depending on what you’re attaching, you can accomplish the same thing other ways.  If it’s code, put it between and blocks straight in the text.  If it’s an image, upload it to your personal web server or some other 3rd party image hosting and use the green square icon above and include an image via URL.  That’s how I include images.  If it’s a full zip, consider dropping it on dropbox and posting the link to it.

I’ll how the folks who manage the forum software to see if we can increase this, but in the mean time consider alternatives for uploading attachments.

Are there other use cases for attachments beyond those three?

Rob

You’re absolutely right. I have been using those alternatives since I hit the limit but the fact that it almost always means there are extra steps to take in order to post stuff affects my decision to post stuff or not. Sometimes you just can’t be bothered. If the forum limit was highter I bet there would be more contribution. Anyways, code blocks are of course no problems. Thanks

I use mainly for screenshots, specially to show Bugs.  Keep uploading the photos to my own server is really a bad way to go…

I don’t mind having a limit, I just think it would be nice for me to get my original limit back after some time. I don’t know any more where are the uploads that I made since the new forum started… If it has a simple button like “Delete all attachments from previous posts” I would consider the problem solved.

Deleting attachments in previous posts seems like it would ruin the usefulness and meaning of those previous posts.  Maybe a limit per post, or some per/day maximum is better?
