Why this ridiculous limit for the total size of attached files to a post? It makes the whole thing completely useless!
Or is it only me that have this limit?

Why don’t you just use Dropbox/Google Drive/OneDrive/Mega to link files?
Try media fire? That’s what i use. Really quick and easy.

Two reasons:
It’s cumbersome
It’s more tidy to save these attachments in forum database. God knows I’ve seen plenty of old forum posts with broken links over the time.
But I’ve got my answers. The sub 10kB limit apparently applies to everybody and people generally don’t care. So this is going to be an uphill battle that I won’t even start
Ya i agree with the broken links fact. But ya this is a uphill battle and no point of starting. All they will say at best will be to start a feed back request. Which will take forever.
You get more than 9.26KB. Each user has 2 MB of data storage globally. If you have 9.26 KB available, that means you’ve used most of yours.
I’ve changed the limit to a per-post limit of 3 MB instead, with a 100 MB total upload limit.
Ok, great!
I never heard of a forum attachment limit such as this on a per user basis before so I was a bit confused.
