Fps Doesn't Go Up?

I’m usually developing with the 30 fps setting in build.settings but wanted to try setting it to 60 now. However, the FPS counter rarely goes above 33 in the local simulator, even though I’m on a high end machine. Of course, it could be my program doing too much, but even when I only have my main handler be active every 15 enterFrames, it’s still on roughly the same FPS.

Can someone help please? Thanks!

@Phillip

Try this barebones project.  It is currently set to 60FPS.

When I run it on my system I get ~30 and ~60 when the config file is updated appropriately.

Let us know if this isn’t true for you.

Also, if it is true and you don’t mind someone looking at your original project, I’d be interested in a quick peek to see if I can find the performance issue(s).

Thanks, that runs at 60 FPS! And when I drop my own config files over it, it also goes to ~30, so that led me to my problem…

For some reason I always have both a build.settings and config.lua, this one only uses a config.lua, and it looks like I also had put FPS settings in wrongly nested places. I’ll go back to the docs again and clean all that up to see which is needed anyway, and where.

I will definitely get the Profiler too, it’s a great suggestion, thanks! And I’ll ping you if there are further things, thanks for offering help! What is your email? Thanks!

Spent most of the day optimizing with the Corona Profiler. It’s pure gold, and finding bottlenecks is almost like playing an addictive puzzle game :wink: Thanks again!
